McFarland (US-82) Project

The intent of this project is to reduce congestion and improve traffic flow along US-82 (McFarland Boulevard). Constructing additional lanes would be approximately 66% more costly than the proposed project due to the amount of right-of-way that would need to be acquired as well as the increased cost of additional roadwork.

ALDOT has chosen to employ available technologies that address congestion and traffic flow which require minimal right-of-way and allow the current highway to operate more efficiently.
